Terms of Service
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Edezco Enterprise, ChurchGates, Abuja, FCT, Nigeria ("Edezco", "we", "us"). Edezco operates Edezco Market Place, the "Platform". The Platform is built and maintained by JE Tech Limited.
By creating an account, or by using the Platform to browse, post, chat, book or supply, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Edezco.
Edezco is an online meeting place. Buyers, sellers, service providers and suppliers make their deals directly with each other. Edezco is not the seller of any item listed. We are not an agent for either side and we are not a party to your transaction.
2. Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract under Nigerian law.
- Give true, current information and keep it up to date. A business account must belong to a real business that you are authorised to represent.
- You may sign up with email and password, phone code, or Google. Keep your sign-in details secret. You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
- One person or business per account. Don't create accounts to get around a suspension.
- To change your account email, ask Edezco Admin. We confirm the request with you first, to protect you from account theft.
- You can close your account at any time by messaging Edezco Admin.
3. Verification badges
Edezco offers four verification levels: phone, NIN with a selfie, CAC business registration, and a shop address visit. A badge means we checked that piece of information at the time we reviewed it.
A badge is not a guarantee of a seller's honesty, of the quality of their goods or services, or of their ability to deliver. Always inspect before you pay. Posting ads needs at least a verified phone. Supply & procurement needs CAC verification (level 3). We may remove a badge if information turns out to be false or out of date.
4. Posting ads
- Posting ads is free for individuals and businesses. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you beforehand. Paid features will always be optional.
- Every new ad is reviewed before it goes live. Editing the title or description of a live ad sends it back for review.
- Your ad must describe a real item, service, vacancy or CV that you own or are authorised to offer. It must be in the right category, at the real price, and in the location you state.
- Use your own photos of the actual item. We compress them and add an "EDEZCO MARKET" watermark. Photos already used in another person's ad are rejected.
- Don't post duplicate ads, misleading "bait" prices, or contact details designed to pull buyers off the Platform before they have inspected the item.
- Job ads must never charge applicants any fee.
- Regulated goods need valid papers. Vehicles need customs and registration papers. Land and property need proof of title or authority to let or sell. Medicines and food products must be NAFDAC-registered where the law requires it.
5. Prohibited items and services
You may not list, offer, request or arrange any of the following on Edezco:
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, and weapons or parts designed to hurt people
- Illegal drugs and drug equipment. Also codeine, tramadol and other controlled or prescription medicines, unless sold by a licensed pharmacy against a valid prescription.
- Medicines, food, cosmetics or chemicals that are fake, expired, recalled or not registered with NAFDAC where registration is required
- Stolen goods, or goods you can't prove you own. This includes phones with a blocked or tampered IMEI, and vehicles without valid papers.
- Counterfeit, replica or pirated goods, software, films, music or books
- Fake or stolen documents: IDs, NINs, passports, certificates, driver's licences, vehicle papers, land titles or bank statements
- Government, military, police or paramilitary uniforms, badges, equipment and property
- Human organs, body parts, blood or remains
- Protected or endangered wildlife, ivory, pangolin scales and similar products. Live pets and farm animals are allowed only with health or vet papers.
- Adult, sexual or escort content and services
- Gambling, lotteries, betting tips, "money doubling", Ponzi or pyramid schemes, and investment or crypto schemes promising fixed returns
- Loans, grants, jobs or visas that ask for an upfront "processing", "registration" or "transport" fee
- Hacking services and tools, stolen accounts, personal data, card details, or SIM cards that are already registered to someone else
- CCTV, trackers or recording devices offered for spying on people without their consent. Normal security and surveillance equipment is welcome.
- Hazardous materials such as mercury, cyanide or unlabelled industrial chemicals
- Alcohol or tobacco offered to anyone under 18, and anything else that is illegal to sell in Nigeria or in the FCT
We may remove any listing that we reasonably believe is unsafe, illegal or misleading, even if it isn't named above. Where we believe a crime has been committed, we may report it to the authorities.
6. Buying safely and payments
- Verify before you pay. Meet in a busy public place or at the seller's verified shop, and check that the item works and the papers match. Pay only when you are satisfied.
- Never pay a deposit, booking fee, transport fee or any advance payment for goods or services you haven't verified.
- Edezco does not collect, hold or process payments between buyers and sellers. How and when you pay is agreed between you and the other user, at your own risk.
- Edezco staff will never ask for your password, OTP, PIN or BVN.
- If a seller asks you to pay first, stop and report them. We suspend accounts that do this.
7. Chats and conduct
Keep conversations on Edezco so we can help if something goes wrong. To protect users, Edezco Shield automatically checks chats for known scam patterns and shows warnings. Our team may review a chat when it is reported or flagged.
You must not:
- harass, threaten, insult or discriminate against anyone
- send spam, chain messages or unsolicited marketing
- pretend to be someone else, including Edezco staff
- scrape, copy or harvest data from the Platform, or interfere with its security or operation
- use the Platform for any illegal purpose, including fraud and money laundering
You can block any user, and report users and ads, from a chat or ad.
8. Offers, deals and reviews
- An offer you make in chat is an invitation to agree a price. The deal is only complete when you meet, inspect and pay.
- You can review a seller only after you mark a deal as bought, or after a service booking is completed.
- Reviews must be honest, describe your own experience, and contain no personal data, insults or threats.
- Don't offer or accept anything in return for a review.
- Sellers can reply to a review but can't change it. We may remove reviews that break these rules.
9. Service bookings
Bookings are agreements between you and the service provider. Providers must turn up as agreed and do the work described. Pay only after the job is done and you are satisfied, unless you have agreed otherwise in writing in the chat. If something goes wrong, use Report a problem on the booking. Edezco Admin will contact both of you. We are not responsible for the provider's work.
10. Supply & procurement
- Only CAC-verified businesses (level 3) that turn on Supply & procurement can send purchase orders (LPOs) and request payment.
- The flow works like this:
- The buyer accepts the order.
- The supplier delivers and uploads the delivery note.
- The buyer inspects the goods and confirms receipt, which creates a Goods Received Note.
- Only then can the supplier send a payment request with an invoice.
- Before a payment request reaches the buyer, Edezco Admin checks the supplier's CAC status, the delivery documents, and that the bank account name matches the CAC record. These checks reduce risk but are not a guarantee.
- The buyer pays the supplier directly, into the account shown in Edezco only. If anyone sends different bank details by phone, chat or email, don't pay. Report it.
- Edezco does not hold funds, guarantee payment, or guarantee the quality or quantity of goods. Disputes about the goods, delivery or payment are between the buyer and the supplier. If a problem is reported, Edezco may pause a payment request while we look into it.
- Suppliers must keep their bank details accurate and are responsible for their own tax obligations.
11. Abuja business directory
Some directory entries come from public sources, which we credit on each entry. We do not endorse them. A listing does not mean the business uses or has approved Edezco. Owners can claim an entry to manage it, or ask us to correct or remove it by messaging Edezco Admin or emailing us.
12. AI sales assistant
"Ask Edezco AI" helps you find ads, compare prices and draft ad text. Its answers are generated automatically and can be wrong. It only knows the ads it is shown. A price suggestion is not a valuation, and an ad draft must be checked by you before you post it. Never rely on the assistant instead of inspecting before you pay.
13. Moderation, suspension and closing accounts
To keep Edezco safe we may review, refuse, edit the category of, pause or remove ads. We may also remove or downgrade badges, limit features, or suspend or close accounts. We do this if we reasonably believe someone has broken these terms or the law, or put others at risk.
Where it's safe and lawful, we tell you why and how to appeal. Reply to our message, or contact Edezco Admin, within 14 days.
14. Your content and our content
- You keep ownership of the text and photos you post.
- You give Edezco a free, non-exclusive licence to host, display, watermark, resize and share them, but only to run and promote the Platform. The licence covers Nigeria and anywhere the Platform is available. It ends when you delete the content, except for copies kept for legal or safety reasons.
- You confirm that you have the right to post your content and that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights.
- The Edezco name, logo, design and software belong to Edezco and its licensors. Don't copy or use them without written permission.
15. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard to keep it accurate, secure and online, but we don't promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted.
Because Edezco is not a party to deals between users, to the extent the law allows we are not liable for:
- the items, services, supplies or payments exchanged between users
- the conduct of any user
- losses caused by paying before you verified something
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to ₦50,000, or the total fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is higher.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as liability for fraud. Nothing in them affects your rights as a consumer under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018.
You agree to compensate Edezco for reasonable losses and legal costs caused by your breach of these terms, or by your unlawful use of the Platform.
16. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you have a dispute with Edezco, contact us first. We will try to resolve it within 30 days.
If we can't resolve it, the dispute will go to mediation, and then to arbitration in Abuja under the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023, before a single arbitrator. You can still bring a claim in the courts of the FCT, or complain to the relevant regulator, where the law gives you that right.
For disputes with another user, use our report tools. We may help, but we are not obliged to decide the outcome.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Edezco grows or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will give you notice of significant changes in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Edezco after that, you accept the new terms.
